The cosmic far ultraviolet background

Recent progress in understanding the cosmic far-UV background is reviewed. The correlation between the far-UV background and Galactic parameters is examined, and the dust-scattered Galactic radiation is considered as the primary source of the far-UV background. The spectrum of the far-UV background is discussed along with the cosmic background from 912 to 1200 A. The extragalactic background and related exotica are addressed.
