Effects of Oxygen Concentration on Radiative Loss from Normal-Gravity and Microgravity Methane Diffusion FlamesLaminar diffusion flames of methane, burning in quiescent oxidizing environments at atmospheric pressure, have been studied under both normal-gravity and microgravity conditions. Radiation from these flames is measured using a wide-view-angle, thermopile detector radiometer. The oxidizer was 18, 21, and 30 percent oxygen in nitrogen.
