The theory and diagnostic promise of supernova gamma-raysThe diagnostic power of gamma-ray and X-ray observations of supernovae of all types is reviewed. The basic features of supernova gamma-ray emission and the beginnings of a program to characterize the entire family of supernovae in gamma light are outlined.
