Mixed data/goal driven intelligent real-time assessment and controlWe describe work in progress to develop model-based systems for real-time assessment and control of complex systems. Intelligent real-time processing must balance accuracy and response-time requirements to maximize expected performance. We use brief (probability) and goal (utility) information to guide construction of an approximate system model on which we then apply approximate inference procedures to yield timely, effective assessments and control decisions.
