Scene identification probabilities for evaluating earth radiation measurementsAlongtrack data from the Earth Radiation Budget Experiment (ERBE) satellite are used here to derive scene identification probabilities empirically. These error probabilities are shown to be functions of view zenith angle and scene type, but not of other parameters such as solar zenith angle and relative azimuth angle, except in the sunglint region. The standard deviations of the resulting errors in radiative fluxes are also presented.
