On the design of structural components using materials with time-dependent propertiesThe application of the elastic-viscoelastic correspondence principle is presented as a design tool for structural design engineers for composite material applications. The classical problem of cantilever beams is used as the illustration problem. Both closed-form and approximate numerical solutions are presented for several different problems. The application of the collocation method is presented as a viable and simple design tool to determine the time-dependent behavior and response of viscoelastic composite beams under load.
