Aerothermochemical calculations in afterburners [CALCULS AEROTHERMOCHIMIQUES DANS LES FOYERS DE RECHAUFFS]The detailed study of the aerodynamics and the thermodynamics of systems is an important part in the process of dimensioning and optimizing the afterburning chambers of modern turbojets. In this context, the article presents two examples of geometries and recent results drawn from concrete cases. The aerothermochemical code which was used was developed by ONERA within the framework of the Cooperative Action for Combustion Chambers (A3C). It is based on a volumes type technique finished with a structured three-dimensional mesh adapted to the walls. The model of combustion used of the generalized type 'Eddy Break Up' is the subject of a more detailed presentation.
