Method of reducing hydraulic instabilityThe present invention is directed to a method and apparatus for improving the flow range in centrifugal pumps and compressors. Bleed holes are introduced into a volute tongue of a centrifugal pump or compressor thereby providing a double acting means of boundary layer control at the volute tongue.
