The effect of turbulence and molecular relaxation on sonic boom signaturesOur objectives are to assess the effect of turbulence and molecular absorption (which is now known to be a key factor in sonic boom shock structure) on shaped sonic booms. Today I will discuss the combination of physical mechanisms for idealized turbulence. In parallel, we are reviewing models for mixed layer turbulence, and these physical effects will eventually be generalized.
