Braze Repair Possibilities for Hot Section Gas Turbine PartsOverlay braze repair is a good technique for restoring aircraft vanes and industrial blades and vanes. The negative effects of the intermetallic phase, formed during the overlay braze process, can be reduced in such a way that the mechanical properties - creep rupture, strength and ductility - can be achieved close to the properties of the base materials. The elimination of the negative effects can be achieved by a combination of careful selection of the chemistries of the repair materials and the application of the correct procedures for cleaning and heat cycle.
