A possible generalization of the harmonic oscillator potentialA four-parameter potential is analyzed, which contains the three-dimensional harmonic oscillator as a special case. This potential is exactly solvable and retains several characteristics of the harmonic oscillator, and also of the Coulomb problem. The possibility of similar generalizations of other potentials is also pointed out.
