Analysis of helioseismic wave fields to examine horizontal structuresA preliminary inversion procedure that carries out a local area analysis on simulated oscillation data is presented and discussed. The procedure is carried out in order to deduce two dimensional subsurface structures in the horizontal plane, representative of thermal variations, as a function of depth. The aim is the evaluation of an inversion procedure that utilizes information gained from the phase distortion occurring in artificially generated acoustic waves in order to determine the subsurface thermal structure. These distortions would naturally occur as a direct consequence of convective motions in the solar interior.
