Patterned Video Sensors For Low VisionMiniature video cameras containing photoreceptors arranged in prescribed non-Cartesian patterns to compensate partly for some visual defects proposed. Cameras, accompanied by (and possibly integrated with) miniature head-mounted video display units restore some visual function in humans whose visual fields reduced by defects like retinitis pigmentosa.
