Pressure Wave Propagation in a Screech CycleThe screech noise generation process from supersonic under expanded jets, issuing from a sonic nozzle pressure ratio of 2.4 and 3.3 (expanded Mach number, M(sub j) = 1.10 and 1.42), is investigated experimentally. Spark Schlieren visualization at different phases of the screech cycle are clearly shown. The rms pressure fluctuation at the screech frequency is measured in the near field region by a traversing microphone.
