Use of FT-IR Analysis to Support Contamination Studies for Bonding SurfacesThe FT-IR analysis technique has become increasingly important for measuring and verifying coating levels on calibration standards and bonding specimens used to evaluate the effects of contamination on rocket motor bondlines. Use of this technique for evaluating solvent effectiveness for contamination removal is also increasing. Typical testing scenarios, analysis techniques, and instrumentation used at MSFC will be described.
