Tornadic Vortex Signature (TVS) Produced by Constrained Pulsing Inertial Oscillation (PIO) ModelThe TVS on Doppler radar indicates a midtropospheric vortex of Rossby number Ro 1000 that develops in a supercell storm shortly before a tornado descends. This paper shows how the PIO model, which was first described at the 1991 AGU Spring Meeting, could produce a TVS.
