Solution of Aeroacoustic Benchmark Problems by Discontinuous Galerkin Method and Perfectly Matched Layer for Nonuniform Mean FlowsNumerical solutions of Problems 1 and 3 in Category 1 are presented. For Problem 1, the one-dimensional wave equation is solved by the discontinuous Galerkin method. Numerical dispersion and dissipation errors of the discontinuous Galerkin method are discussed and compared with finite difference schemes. For Problem 3, Perfectly Match Layer (PML) for the linearized Euler equations with a non-uniform mean flow is presented. The stable absorbing boundary condition is constructed based on a dispersive wave analysis of the normal modes of the Couette flow. Numerical results show excellent agreement with the exact solution. Solutions for both the subsonic and transonic Couette flow problems are presented.
