Determining the Loci of Anomalies Using Minimal Causal ModelsA new technique is described for attention focusing for use in anomaly detection in complex physical systems. The technique involves reasoning about the distance between two frequency distributions, and it is used to detect both anomalous system parameters and 'broken' causal dependencies. These two forms of information together isolate the locus of anomalous behavior in the system being monitored.
