Structural Safety of a Hubble Space Telescope ScienceFor a flight hardware system to be launched and/or retrieved by the Space Shuttle, the development of its structures must address both personnel safety and safety of the mission. Safety of personnel and the Shuttle has been a paramount concern for the National Space Transportation System (NSTS) since the first Shuttle flight in 1980.
