Evaluation of a Microwave Blade Tip Clearance Sensor for Propulsion Health MonitoringThe NASA Glenn Research Center has investigated a microwave blade tip clearance system for the structural health monitoring of gas turbine engines. This presentation describes the sensors and the experiments that have been conducted to evaluate their performance along with future plans for their use on an engine ground test.
