Pultruded Rod/Overwrap Testing for Various Stitched Stringer ConfigurationsThe unidirectional carbon pultruded rod running through the tops of the stringers is a key design feature of the Pultruded Rod Efficient Unitized Structure (PRSEUS) concept as applied to aircraft fuselage structure. Reported herein are the test methods and results from a test campaign in which the strength of the rod/overwrap interface of various PRSEUS stringer configurations were characterized. The different stringer configurations included different materials and stacking sequences for the stringer overwrap and whether or not an additional layer of adhesive was included between the rod and the overwrap.
