Testbed for Characterizing the Adsorptive Capacities of Pleated Panel FiltersPleated panel filters offer a new commercial form factor for controlling VOCs in spacecraft cabin air. They differ from conventional commercial granular activated carbons because they have a lower pressure drop across the filter. A testbed was developed for evaluating the removal capacities of commercial pleated panel filters for NH3. The adsorptive capacity of a commercial cation-exchange pleated filter was compared versus the adsorptive capacities of two acid- impregnated activated carbons used for controlling ammonia in spacecraft cabin air.
