Tracking Pollution in the Stratosphere with Satellites and BalloonsThe stratosphere matters for climate. After large volcanic eruptions, long-lasting aerosol layers provide a temporary veil that reduces solar radiation and cools the entire planet. Scientists have now discovered that, not only volcanoes , but also pollution from Asia can reach the stratosphere. NASA and ISRO space agencies have team up to study human-induced particulate footprints in the stratosphere with satellite and balloon observations.
