First Results from New in situ Aerosol Spectral Optical Measurements During KORUS-OC: Exploring Links Among Optical Properties & Aerosol ChemistryResults from data collected aboard the R/V Onnuri during the KORUS-OC cruise around the Korean peninsula are used to frame a larger discussion of the utility of in situ aerosol spectral optical measurements. New measurement techniques are presented. In situ aerosol extinction, total absorption, water-soluble absorption, and methanol-soluble absorption are examined for spectral shape. 365 nm optical properties are related to in situ aerosol chemical composition. Implications for future studies are discussed.
