Strategies for Small UAS: An Airspace Underlay ExperimentAccess to the National Airspace System entails policy, architectural and certification challenges for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) as they are being developed. This talk identifies these challenges, builds upon past architectural change successes, and proposes a roadmap to allow small UAS (< 50lb vehicles) to operate in an airspace underlay experiment. The intent is to demonstrate robust operations that can be scaled up to more complex systems and airspace.
