Satellite Instrument CalibrationSatellite remote sensing is an integral part of global earth observation. Satellite remote sensing data enable us to observe the whole globe at a reasonably high frequency. To maintain the accuracy of satellite remote sensing data, it is critical to continuously perform instrument calibration throughout the lifetime of the mission. This presentation describes the common characteristics of earth observing satellite sensors, the calibration processes and potential issues, the implication on science data, and how we understand the globe.
