Space-based Interferometric Telescopes for the Far InfraredWe discuss concepts for deploying direct detection interferometers in space which are optimized for the wavelength range 40 meu to 500 meu. In particular we introduce two missions in NASA's current strategic plan: SPIRIT (SPace InfraRed Interferometric Telescope) and SPECS (Submillimeter Probe of the Evolution of Cosmic Structure).
