Ka-Band Tiny Transmitter for the New Millenium ProgramThe size, mass and cost of telecommunications systems on deep space missions have increased at almost an exponential rate over the last thirty years. Great cost and size reduction of these systems can be achieved by reducing the cost and size of the transponder component of the radio subsystem. An advanced technology X-and Ka-band (8 and 32 GHz) Tiny Transmitter is being developed at JPL for the New Millenium program and is described in this paper.
