Test Report: Olfactory Response to MonomethylhydrazineA test was conducted to determine if personnel were capable of detecting the odor of 0.2 ppm monomethylhydrazine (MMH). A panel of forty-two volunteer individuals were selected and medically qualified to participate in the test. Preparation and analysis of the test atmosphere (0.2 ppm MMH) and odor test conduct are described. Test results indicated approximately two-thirds of the subjects were able to detect the odor. The results also indicated that routine exposure to MMH tends to decrease the ability of test subjects to detect the odor. Twelve panel members experienced irritation of the nasal mucosa.
