Design Techniques for Lightweight Aircraft Motor DrivesElectric aircraft require a propulsion system with a high specific power. Designing electric motor drives for aeronautics applications is a multidisciplinary effort which requires complex design and construction techniques to achieve the desired performance metrics. This presentation explains some of the electrical, mechanical, thermal, and magnetics design techniques used in these motor drives. The presentation also shows how the techniques are used in two ongoing NASA EAP projects.
