Data-Informed Environmental Conversion: Updating MIL-HDBK-217 and -338 with 50+ years of field dataUsing over five decades of field data on electric and non-electric parts, we revisit the environmental conversion methodology described in MIL-HDBKs -217 and -338. These Reliability Engineering Handbooks’ predicted values are compared to new tables, developed using observed data. This observed data approach is also used to develop environmental conversion factors for non-electric parts, which were out of scope of MIL-HDBK-217 and -338.
