HypersonicsNASA has been involved with hypersonic work since the 1950’s with a significant understanding of hypersonic flight phenomena being obtained from highly successful programs and manned orbital flights of the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo and Space Shuttle programs. Ames, Glenn, and Langley Research Centers are the lead field centers for hypersonic research and development.
