Launch Complex 34, SWMU CC054 Corrective Measures Study Progress Report Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, FloridaThis Corrective Measures Study (CMS) Progress Report presents a summary of supplemental assessment activities, interim measures (IMs) implemented, and monitoring conducted during the CMS phase at Launch Complex 34 (LC34) located at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS), Florida. This report also presents a summary of site conditions and an overview of Engineering Evaluations (EEs) and Advance Data Packages (ADPs) completed as part of the ongoing CMS phase. Progress Reports are used as a mechanism to document site progress toward completion of the CMS phase. This document (Revision 2) is a comprehensive document that includes information provided in previous revisions, as well as new information since Revision 1 was issued in August 2020. LC34 has been designated Solid Waste Management Unit CC054 under the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Corrective Action Program.

Supplemental assessment activities summarized in this report were completed between 2008 and 2024 to investigate chlorinated volatile organic compound (CVOC) “Hot Spot” areas, as well as to re-characterize the dense non-aqueous phase liquid (DNAPL) source zone (DSZ). Multiple EEs were completed for this work and were presented to the KSC Remediation Team (KSCRT) as ADPs. The EE process, along with current understanding of site lithology, hydrogeology, and groundwater impacts are presented in this report.

Two groundwater remediation systems are currently operating as IMs at LC34, to include: (1) a Hydraulic Containment System (HCS) in the DSZ, and (2) an Air Sparge (AS) system in Hot Spot areas to the southeast, east, and northeast of the DSZ. These groundwater IMs, as well as soil IMs that have been completed at the site during the CMS phase, are outlined in this report. Performance monitoring, site-wide long-term monitoring, and land use controls are also summarized in this report.

This CMS Progress Report also includes a summary of already-approved recommendations from the most recent applicable documents that are discussed in this report.
