Overview NASA Scientific Balloon ProgramA scientific balloon is a stable stratospheric flight platform capable of supporting observatory-class science payloads for durations exceeding 50 days. The Program utilizes unpressurized and pressurized platforms (Zero Pressure and Super Pressure). The NASA Scientific Balloon Program (SBP) is the largest of its kind with the singular capability of heavy lift suborbital stratospheric platforms serving the greatest breadth of science disciplines and providing end-to-end engineering, operations, and management.
