Highlights from the Technical Committee on NoiseThe Technical Committee on Noise (TCNS) brings together researchers and industry professionals focused on understanding noise generation, propagation, and its effects on people, objects, and structures. Reducing the impact of unwanted sound drives progress in modeling, measurement, mitigation strategies, regulatory guidance, and the design and development of hearing protection. Areas of interest include community noise characterization and abatement; transportation noise from conventional and emerging vehicles; jet and rocket noise; building systems noise and vibration; atmospheric sound propagation; soundscapes; and low-frequency sound. The committee’s work spans fundamental research, applied studies, and the translation of findings into practical solutions. The diverse technical backgrounds of TCNS members reflect the interdisciplinary nature of these challenges and are evident in special sessions, which are often organized jointly with other ASA technical committees.
