Soft Body Impacts on a Large Hopkinson BarThis report documents a series of soft body impacts on a large Hopkinson bar. The impact tests were performed for NASA Glenn Research Center during the period of 3 November 2021 to 9 February 2022. The primary objective was to capture impact load data. Data collected from these tests can be compared to various soft body projectile types for potential use as a surrogate for real birds used in bird strike and bird ingestion certification tests. This test program was conducted in the Impact Physics Laboratory at the University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI).
