NASA Electrical, Electronic, Electromechanical, Electro-Optical (EEEE) Parts Selection ProcessNASA flies hardware built from Electrical, Electronic, Electromechanical, Electro-Optical (EEEE), and has a history going back over 50 years in parts selection. The parts selection process evolved with changes in the electronics industry, from partnering with other government agencies to establish some of the first US MIL specifications (1960s/1970s), then leveraging MIL specifications to selectively adding space level requirements, to more recent consideration of commercial/alternate grade parts where appropriate. This talk will provide the current approach at NASA for EEEE parts selection, based on NASA-STD-8739.10, EEE-INST-002, and the upcoming NASA-[TBD]-8739.11
