Skylab and its solar astronomy experiments.The functional characteristics of the Skylab are considered together with general information concerning the spacecraft and its equipment. The Skylab solar instruments are examined, giving attention to two H-alpha telescopes, a white light coronograph, X-ray spectrographic telescopes, a UV scanning polychromator/spectroheliometer, a dual X-ray telescope, an XUV spectrograph/spectroheliograph, and instruments of X-ray/UV solar photography. The Skylab solar observing programs are discussed along with aspects of astronaut training and details regarding the control and display devices of the spacecraft.
