A concept for Space Shuttle payload ground operationsA Space Transportation System that involves the reusable Space Shuttle offers mankind's next great frontier. The country and the NASA must approach this potential opportunity with an open mind for new ideas and concepts in operations management, business principles, and sensitivity to cost. Our long term future in this new frontier will depend as much on our success in these areas as on our technological successes. This paper attempts to provide, for people with a working understanding of current ground operations, some examples of these evolving concepts.
