Structure and evolutionary history of the solar system. IVThe chemical composition of planets and satellites, the origin of meteorites, and the location and structure of different secondary bodies are discussed in this concluding installment of the history of the Galaxy. Several traditional concepts are reviewed and rejected, and it is argued that with the empirical evidence now available it is possible to suggest a series of basic processes leading to the present structure of the planets and solar system.
