Heat transfer tests of a 0.0175-scale space shuttle orbiter model (29-0) to determine the effect of surface temperature on boundary layer transition at Mach 8.0 in the AEDC VKF tunnel B (test OH4A)Wind tunnel tests were conducted to determine the heat transfer characteristics of a 0.0175-scale model of the space shuttle orbiter and to analyze the effect of wall temperature on the point of boundary layer transition. The tests were conducted at Mach 8.0 over a range of Reynolds numbers from 1.0 to 3.7 million per foot. Two regions of initial model wall temperature were investigated. Eighteen runs were obtained at each region to support the test objectives. Tabulated data are presented along with a description of the test procedure. Preliminary data indicated that the initial model wall temperature did not obviously affect the point of boundary layer transition.
