Current Status of Understanding Quasi-Permanent Fields Associated with EarthquakesMany of the basic concepts relating to displacement fields associated with earthquakes were lucidly described by H.F. Reid in his discussion of the mechanism of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, originally published in 1910 and recently republished [Reid, 1969]. His presentation is a natural beginning point for a modern discussion.
