A comparison of some observations of the Galilean satellites with Sampson's tablesTwo series of photographic observations of the Galilean satellites are analyzed to determine systematic errors in the observations and errors in Sampson's (1921) theory. Satellite-satellite as well as planet-satellite positions are used in comparing theory with observation. Ten unknown errors are identified, and results are presented for three determinations of the unknown longitude error.
