A contribution to ULF activity in the Pc 3-4 range correlated with IMF radial orientationThe paper describes an experiment to determine whether the radial orientation of the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) is associated with ULF activity in the Pc 3-4 range. Data are obtained from base levels, undisturbed intervals, IMF and disturbance selection, and trigonometric correlation. The results obtained are discussed, noting particularly that for low Kp, the probability of enhanced amplitude noise rises as IMF orientation with respect to the nominal solar wind flow decreases in both Pc 3 and Pc 4 channels.
