Quasi-isentropic laser enginesThis study examines laser engine processes in which coherent radiation is converted, at least in principle, completely into mechanical work (i.e., without the need for heat rejection). This type of engine process utilizes all coherence properties with minimum degradation, i.e., with minimum increase of entropy. The conversion is based on a heat pump operated by gaseous resonance absorption, followed by a heat engine.
