A comparison of solar wind and ionospheric ion acoustic wavesIon acoustic waves produced during the Trigger experiment are compared to ion acoustic waves observed in the solar wind. After normalizing to the Debye length the spectra are nearly identical, although the ionospheric wave relative energy density is 100 times larger than the solar wind case.
