Plasma wave turbulence at planetary bow shocksVoyager 1 observations of plasma wave turbulence at Saturn's bow shock are discussed and compared with corresponding data from Jupiter, earth, and Venus. The results suggest that the plasma instabilities that develop at the lower Mach number bow shocks of the terrestrial planets differ from those found at the high Mach number bow shocks of the outer planets.
