Magnetic-Gear Concept for Special ApplicationsProposed gear has magnetic instead of mechanical teeth. Magnetic gears consists of permanent magnets resembling mechanical gears but with smooth faces and alternating magnetic poles in place of mechanical teeth. Low torque, noncontacting gears useful in special environments.
