Cryolite Byproduct in Silicon ProductionProcess reacts alumina hydrate with HF and NaF from silicon-production process. Cryolite is produced by adding reaction step to process that makes high-purity silicon from fluorosilicic acid. New extended process has been demonstrated in laboratory and could be used in commercial plants.
