Investigation of the CARS spectrum of water vaporThe dependence of the coherent anti-Stokes Raman (CARS) spectrum of water vapor on temperature has been measured and compared with CARS spectral model calculations to permit diagnostics of this important combustion product. Measurements have been made in a methane-air flame at 1700 K and in a heated cell, maintained at atmospheric pressure and temperatures between 310 K and 710 K. The agreement between measured and calculated spectra is very good. The importance of assumed Raman linewidth is shown to be critical to the calculation of spectral features near the band head of measured spectra.
